History




Before 1921, there was no Central Authority constituted in the State to prompt Government and other Appointing Authorities in the matters of recruitment to the  state common administrations. Government and Appointing Authorities were  making arrangements as per the standards set around  Government now and again. Through request No. 1827:80 E.a.g.308, dated:16-05-1921, the Government constituted shockingly a focal org for recruitments, named "Focal Recruitment Board". This Board was joined to the workplace of the Government Secretariat till 1940. Government named a Public Service Commissioner for the State in its Order No. 3685-3735-C.b. 103-39-1, dated: 19-01-1940.

The Public Service Commission was constituted under the procurements of the  Constitution of India on 18-05-1951. As per the procurements of statement 14 of the Public Service Commission Regulations 1950, the staff of the Public Service Commissioner as it stood  on 18-05-1951, was proceeded as the core of the staff of the Public Service Commission.

The Office of the Central Recruitment Board which was a piece of Mysore (Now Karnataka) Government Secretariat took after the Government Secretariat  Manual, for  office systems. This  was proceeded with even in the workplace of the Public Service Commissioner and later in the workplace of the Public Service Commission with essential notices to complete recruitment and behavior of Competitive Examinations, Departmental Examinations and so forth.,

As per provision III of the Mysore Public Service Commission, Regulations 1950, His Highness  was satisfied to designate Sri. H.b. Gundappa Gowda, as Chairman, Sri George Matthan,  and Sri H.m. Mallikarjunappa,  as Members of the Commission. The Chairman and Members expected charge on the nineteenth, 23rd and 25th May 1951, separately. From that point forward, 13 Chairmen and 67 Members have been delegated to the Commission by Government.

The Office of the Public Service Commission was placed in the "United India" structures, Bangalore City, till 20-05-1951. Since the settlement missed the mark concerning the genuine necessities of the Commission, its office was moved to "Balabrooie", on Palace Road, Bangalore, on 21st May 1951 and remained  there  upto seventh  November 1956. Later it was moved to the north wing of  " Atarakacheri" a bit of the High Court Building and proceeded there upto  January  1968. From there on it was moved to the present  premises of  "Park House" arranged on the north west  side of  Vidhana Soudha.

The Commission praised its "Brilliant Jubilee" on 01-03-2002  and establishment stone was laid for the development of another building for the Commission. The building was introduced on 19-11-2005 and at present the workplace is working in the new building called "Udyoga Soudha".

Further as a characteristic of fruition of 60 years of its administration, the Commission commended its "Precious stone Jubilee" on 18-05-2011. To Commemorate this festival, establishment stone was laid for development of one all the more new building known as "Vajra Mahotsava Soudha" in the premises  of the workplace to cook  the developing need and to serve the individuals by and large and the hopefuls specifically all the more successfully.
